Vellsam has participated in the first telepresence edition in the history of Fruit Attraction, the great international fair for the fruit and vegetable sector, with a webinar on research on the defense system of plants and their rhizosphere.

 

We have been able to offer this educational talk through our partner Freshuelva, one of the exhibitors at the international fair and it consisted of a presentation on the defense system of plants and their rhizosphere.

 

The speakers have been David Castro, director of Microbiology, Gema Pérez, director of Development and will be presented by Isabel González, director of New Projects.

 

The vision of Vellsam Materias Bioactivas towards the future of agriculture as formulators and manufacturers of plant nutrients, focuses the interest of the company in the development of innovative products obtained from the knowledge of how plants respond in a habitual way to different types of stress that is presented to them, either biotic, generated by invading agents that cause damage or disease in the plant, such as fungi, bacteria or viruses, or abiotic, caused by adverse environmental factors for the crop such as extreme temperatures, high solar incidence or droughts.

 

In the first presentation, by David Castro, they spoke about one of the most active lines of research that we have, focused on the study of the relationship between the plant and microorganisms in the rhizosphere and the benefits provided by bacteria capable of promote plant growth (PGPR), such as increasing the availability of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium; protection against abiotic stress through the production of enzymes such as polyphenol oxidase (PPO) and peroxidases or ACC deaminase, capable of regulating ethylene; and against biotic stress.

 

The second, by Gema Pérez, has focused on active defense mechanisms, where a fundamental role can be played to minimize damage to crops, as well as on the technological base of our Provite range, an efficient and respectful technology. the environment developed to improve crop performance even when it is subjected to certain types of stress.
